what to eat for breakfast to lose weight

Many people skip breakfast to lose weight. I urge you to eat breakfast for that very same reason – to lose weight. I will create for you some exclusive breakfast recipes that will provide adequate nutrition, fiber, vitamins, proteins and minerals. More importantly, it will provide you with adequate energy while still keeping the calorie count low thus helping you to lose weight.

My all time favorite breakfast recipe is my green omelet.

It has plenty of fiber, vitamins, proteins, minerals, carbohydrates and even trace elements. Despite all this goodness, it is super light at just 250 to 300 calories (depending on actual quantity of individual ingredients).

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoonful of oil
  • 1 egg
  • half cup diced cabbage
  • half cup diced lettuce leaves
  • half cup diced spinach
  • few sprigs of parsley
  • one green chili
  • half cup diced onion
  • a pinch of turmeric powder
  • half a teaspoon salt to taste
  • five tablespoonfuls of water

Recipe: Blend all the ingredients except the oil. Pour the oil in a flat bottom frying pan and heat for a few seconds. Pour in the blended batter and let it cook over a medium fire for another 3 minutes before turning it over and allowing it to cook some more over low heat. Serve hot with toast.

If you are going to have a particularly tough day ahead and feel you might need some more energy, you may dice (no more than five) dried fruits such as dates or almonds or pistachios. This will add another 50 to 100 calories depending on size of each dried fruit.

Check the sample diet meal plan in the previous post where i have added some lunch and dinner ideas, too.

Many people think that fats from oils are bad and therefore ban it from their diet. Do not do that. 90% of your brain is fat. Also, some vitamins can only be metabolized in the presence of fats. Fats also play a vital role in keeping your skin healthy.

Fats therefore have a very important role to play

so don’t remove it from your diet. However, you need to limit its consumption to no more than one tablespoon a day. Oil should ideally be used in the morning. This gives your body the entire day to metabolize it and also to use the energy derived from it.

If you prefer bread in the morning, use whole grain or brown bread and then toast it. If you like butter, use an ultra-thin layer of peanut butter. Do not drink fruit juice in the morning. Instead, have a small piece of papaya or watermelon or a small bunch of berries. Fresh fruit adds vital oxidants to your body.
